Mr.Dung onsite in India

For the first time, BAP has staff working onsite in India. One week after, we had an interview with Mr. Dung – that first employee.

Reporter BAP:

Hello, Mr. Ngọc Dũng. Could I ask you whether you are working onsite in India?

Mr. Dung:

Yes, I am. I am spending 1 month on the project in collaboration with some Indian co-workers.

Reporter BAP:

After a few days in India, how do you feel? Regarding the environment, the way of working, are there any differences between Vietnam and India?

Mr. Dung:

Well, basically, India is large so there are many IT companies. They are quite professional and competitive in the IT market. People here are very friendly and English is used as their second language in working places. They apply different working schemes depending on each country’s projects. For example, working for USA projects will last from 2 PM to 10 PM, and working for Japan projects is from 6 AM to 4 PM. More than that, the company provides a powerful workforce with many branches around the world such as the US, Middle East, Europe, Asian.

It is autumn now so the weather is not too hot. However, curry is the most popular food here, and it is doesn’t suit my taste. I have to choose a hotel offering both Asian and Western cuisines. Traditional food is very spicy with a strong curry flavor. Moreover, I was told to drink water in the hotels or at workplaces, but not outside. In terms of traffic, traffic jam is a common issue in the rush hours due to the lack of policemen. Furthermore, roads are always in low quality.

working onsite 1 month in India

Reporter BAP:

Going onsite is a trend these days. Can you please share some experiences to survive abroad?

Mr. Dung:

No problem. Going onsite requires a lot of preparations. Firstly, personal luggage needs to be carefully prepared. Especially, it is necessary to bring instant noodles in case you cannot eat anything at the local place. Then, you must check the airline tickets carefully to know where transit is. After arriving at the airport, you can book a taxi or take a bus to come to the cities nearby (you can also book through Agoda or some other sites like Tripadvisor). Communication in the host country is also a major problem. Google translate helps me a lot. Some formal communication in English must be practiced first.

One more thing that you need to pay attention to when working globally is English. You can improve your English by working on many global projects. Plus, you need to understand the culture of each country to have a suitable working manner. How to choose a good place for staying is also noticeable. You should find a place close to your working place and has enough facilities. Some tips in transportation, in Asian countries, you can use the services of Grab, while in India it is Uber, Ola to book taxis, so I had to ask for airport taxis, and in many countries, you can use public transportation.

full of memories of India

Reporter BAP:

What do you think about the development of BAP in India?

Mr. Dung:

India is the largest market for IT services and outsourcing with millions of IT engineers. Particularly in the field of SAP, there are more than 15 million SAP Consultants, at any level from junior, senior, architecture. This gives BAP the opportunity to cooperate when there is a potential project about SAP. BAP can find high-quality employees in India. In the future, BAP can fully set up an office in India in order to easily access resources. The cost of hiring Indians is not too high compared to hiring experts from Europe or America.

Reporter BAP:

Thank you so much for the interview!

I wish you a good month and full of memories of India.

Mr. Dung:

You are welcome! Thank you for today’s talking.
